2016 Mazda CX-3 vs 2016 Honda HR-V
2016 Mazda CX-3 vs. 2016 Honda HR-V
If you’re looking for the perfect compact SUV for you and your family in the Nanaimo, Duncan, and Victoria area, you might be trying to choose between the 2016 Mazda CX-3 and the 2016 Honda HR-V. Of course, you want the vehicle with the highest power and best performance, not to mention the most features for your safety, comfort, and convenience. Harris Mazda is proud to present this handy comparison guide.
The 2016 Mazda CX-3 comes with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, which produces 146 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque. This engine uses SKYACTIV®-G technology, which allows it to use fuel at a rate of compression higher than most comparable engines. SKYACTIV®-G technology is made to give your engine more efficiency, at a rate of up to 15% more than a similar engine without SKYACTIV®-G systems. It also uses a dual overhead cam shaft and variable valve timing for more reliable power in a steady stream, and uses advanced direct fuel injection to give you the speed you need when you need it. The engine block is made of aluminum alloy for a lightweight machine. You can choose from front wheel drive or Mazda’s predictive i-ACTIV AWDtm, which uses sensors to take note of road conditions and your driving style over 200 times per second, and sends just the right amount of torque to your wheels to prevent slippage without using extra energy. You’ll also get a SKYACTIV®-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode and Sport mode for more spirited driving, which delivers up to 7.9/L 100 km hwy.
The 2016 Honda HR-V includes a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine, which produces just 141 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque. It uses a single overhead cam shaft and variable valve timing and lift electronic control, and comes with multi-point fuel injection. You’ll also get an Eco Assist button, which slows down fuel consumption but also can result in less power. The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual transmission, although you can also opt for a Continuously Variable Transmission system that effectively shifts for you. It gets up to 32 mpg highway.
The 2016 Mazda CX-3 has plenty of standard features that aren’t available at all on the 2016 Honda HR-V, or that may be available for an extra add-on fee. The Mazda CX-3 includes safety features such as standard blind spot monitoring, which uses a camera to let you see vehicles and obstacles that you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. You’ll also get a rear cross traffic alert system, which lets you know when you might be backing up into something that’s coming across your path. Inside, the Mazda CX-3 includes overhead console storage for your personal items. You’ll also get variable assisted steering, which adjusts the effort it takes to steer the car based on your speed and other factors, saving you energy in several ways. You’ll get all of these features and more when you purchase a 2016 Mazda CX-3.
The 2016 Mazda CX-3 also has plenty of options that will make your driving experience more comfortable, safe, and convenient, but that aren’t available on the 2016 Honda HR-V for any price. You’ll get options for safety such as a lane departure warning system, which uses cameras and sensors to monitor the lane lines you’re driving on and will alert you with a sound or vibration when you’re drifting out of your lane. You’ll also get the option of a forward obstruction warning system, which detects obstacles or other vehicles in front of your car by using radar, and delivers an alert to tell you to apply the brake if you’re getting too close to avoid a collision.
Other optional features that the HR-V doesn’t offer at all include basic convenience features like a universal garage door opener to make it easy to swing into your garage in your Mazda, as well as a remote ignition feature that lets you start your Mazda from yards away in order to let your car warm up. You can also opt for Mazda Radar Cruise Control, which uses radar sensors to adjust and maintain a safe following distance from the car ahead of you when the cruise control system is on. Finally, you can opt for features like the high beam control system, which automatically dips your high beams to avoid blinding other drivers, as well as rain sensing wipers that sense precipitation and operate at just the right speed to remove as much moisture as needed without scraping across the windshield.
